Is your business missing online wealth?

By Simon Wilkinson

Recently I saw an article in the Mail on Sunday that I felt it was important to write an article. The article was headed "Online Riches ignored" if you wish to look the article up.

The article discussed how many smaller (micro) enterprises were missing online profits by either not investing, not focusing or not even having an online presence. Here are some of the stats from the article that are a wake up call for entrepreneurs in the UK (and beyond) :

- Micros (small) businesses with less than 10 staff only make about £1,000 sales a year through the web, equal to only 0.6% of their total income.
- But enterprises with 11 "49 staff, earn roughly £175,000 in internet sales, or 4.6% of income.
- Bigger firms with 50 "249 staff earn about £2.5 million or 13.1% of sales on the internet.

This I found very revealing. What it lets me know is that there's a huge opportunity for small (micro) companies to extend revenue by effective use of an internet presence. Unfortunately many don't realize that it does not matter how tiny their business is, it's important to invest in an online presence.

I recognize that many small businesses don't have the resources or capital to invest. Therefore , it is important to choose the right site design partner who can provide a service, at the right prices to supply the absolute best results.

Please take some time to have a look at one of my other articles, Does it make sense for a small business owner to build and maintain their own web site? While it may appear to be less costly to build and manage your own site, there is a lot of benefit (time, results, etc) in employing a trusted web design partner.

I hope this article has given food for thought of the superb opportunity for smaller firms to earn more money by making the optimum use of a web presence.
