Mexico City - A Useful Town Unlike Some Other

Mexico City is one of the largest cities in the world, and it serves as Mexico's capital city. Famous for the colorful culture that is evident everywhere in the city, the vast amount of history, the delicious food, and for once being the capital of the mighty Aztec Empire. Mexico City is a great place to take a vacation, and if you are considering going there, you will need to get either passports or new passport cards for your family.

Passport cards are a great alternative to the passport book. However, they do have some restrictions, the first one being that you can only travel to Mexico, Canada, Bermuda, and the Caribbean. Secondly, you can only travel to these places by boat or car. However, the fact that the passport card is so much cheaper than a passport book makes up for these limitations. If you can online, you can get passport books or cards, and even get a passport for children.

Zocalo is definitely one the best places to start your vacation in Mexico. Zocalo is among the largest public square in the world and is a popular place to visit because of it's architectural grandeur, it's important landmarks, and yummy food. It's definitely easy to spend a large amount of time exploring the square, so be sure to allow for a it. You'll find the National Palace in Zocalo. This building is where Hernan Cortes lived, and you can also see Diego Rivera's famous mural of Mexican history inside as well. The Templo Mayor Museum is another must-see spot. The Templo Mayor, accidentally uncovered in 1970, is attached to the ruins of what used to be the most important building and the very center of the Aztec Empire. New artifacts are being excavated every day, and this museum is a great way to experience Mexico's native history.

Don't miss out on the National Museum of Anthropology in beautiful Chapultepec Park. This museum is one of the best of its kind, as it contains replicas as well as actual archaeological evidence pertaining to the history of Mexico. Artifacts from the Olmec, Mexica, Maya, Golfo, and Aztec civilizations are all on display, and they help visitors show what Mexico was like before there were cars and skyscrapers. On the bottom floor is where you'll find these archaeological exhibits, while the second floor is more based on anthropology.

The Palacio de Bellas Artes is a hub for art and is the most significant cultural center in the entire country of Mexico, as it houses not only an impressive art museum, but it's also the city's top performance hall. As absolutely stunning inside as it is on the outside, this art museum houses some of Mexico's most famous murals, as well as a cafe and a bookstore.
