Holiday Parks In Cornwall: Relaxing In The South

By Jez Smithson

Cornwall is a top spot for holiday makers in the UK. Each year, millions flock to the Southern most tip of England, to spend a few weeks among the marvellous landscape, gentle climate and beautiful beaches the county has to offer. For those who like to self cater, there's a massive selection of holiday parks in Cornwall to choose from.

The county has holiday parks in all sorts of beautiful locations. Some are secluded in acres of forest, while others are situated a stone's throw from the beach. Accommodation options are large too, from static caravans and bungalows, to something a little more rural, like log cabins and chalets. Inside, they're often really well equipped, with modern kitchens with cooker, fridge and other mod cons.

Lounge or living areas have a comfortable seating area, which may also double up as a dining area. A lot of accommodation these days has central heating or other type of heating, and gas and electricity used during the stay is often included in the price. Other features include TVs and sometimes DVD players. Bed linen is also provided, so holidaymakers don't need to worry about bringing their own.

Holiday parks are communities, with facilities for use by all guests, like bars, restaurants and shops. A lot have outdoor swimming pools and some, indoor pools too. Sports facilities may include tennis courts or cycle paths, and the necessary equipment is often available to hire too.

Many parks are designed specifically with families in mind. There are often regular activities for kids and entertainers, so parents can have some time on their own. There are also usually events laid on at night, for the whole family, like discos, concerts and shows.

Prices are normally charged per unit rented, rather than per person. Prices of course will vary depending on the type and size of accommodation, rental duration as well as the time of year. Many parks offer special rates for short breaks, and may offer discounts for booking well in advance, booking online as well as last minute bargains. Many holiday parks in Cornwall are open all year round. Some offer bed and breakfast, half board or even full board options, for those who also want a holiday away from the kitchen. A lot of parks also have designated areas for those travelling with their own accommodation with pitches for motor homes, caravans and tents.
