The Features To Look Out For In Aluminium Handgun Cases

By Shannon Hilson

The biggest issue that is faced by handgun owners is how to transport their weapon from place to another without any kind of damage to their weapon. While it may look macho to simply tuck it into your best, this is not only unsafe but illegal in many states and is generally considered to be unwise. An aluminium case can help you in transporting you gun in a safe and secure manner.

Before you rush out and drop you money on the first case that fits your handgun, there are a few things you should look at. Although cost is a consideration you should not compromise on quality. Make sure that the case you get gives you the best quality for the money spent.

The first thing you need to look at is the construction of the case. Start by looking at the handle attachment. A strong secure case will not be very convenient if the handle falls off. Make sure that the handle material is of good quality, and that the attachment is strong and secure. You should also check the hinges of the case the same way. Make sure that they will hold up to ongoing use.

You should also check out the locks and latches on the case. Make sure that the latch mechanism operates easily. You do not want to have to wrestle with the latches every time you unlock you case. Check to make sure that the dials on the locks are easy to turn and that the numbers line up the way they are supposed to. If the locks and latches do not operate properly when the case is new the problem will only get worse over time.

The latches on your case should also be tamper-proof. Many cases now come with anti-pry latches which will keep someone from being able to force the lock open. The harder it is to break into your case, the less likely that a thief will bother with it.

You next should look at the interior of the case. There should be adequate padding to house your weapon and hold it in place inside the case. If the case gets accidentally dropped or bumped you do not want your gun banging around inside. Look for a padding with a minimum of 80 psi compression foam. The higher the psi number, the more firm the foam is, and the more secure it will hold your gun.

The size of your weapon should also be considered while buying a case. You would want to make sure that your gun fits snuggly inside the case. At the same you would not want to spend more money on a larger case that you really do not need. Try to pay attention to the internal dimensions of the case to be sure that your gun would fit inside the case.

Choosing the right aluminum handgun case is not a difficult thing to do. It does require a little bit of shopping around, but in the long run the time and effort you spend will be well worth it. You will end up owning a case that is not only functional, it is built to last.
