Characteristics of Vessel Sinks

By Bryan Martin

Sink is a basin, which is placed on the top of the bathroom vanity. These are made up of many kinds of materials but glass and ceramic sinks are the most popular and common work now days. The various characteristics of sinks are described below:

Vessel sinks installation: The installation process of sinks is not a complex professional work anymore; you yourself can install a sink as well. When you are installing an above counter sink, you need to keep in mind that the sink should come with a connecting ring, which will act as an interface between the flat counter top and the rounded bottom of your basin.

Faucets of sinks: The aprons of sinks have pre-drilled holes, which are useful in the installation of faucets and the handles. To accommodate the faucets the holes are drilled into the vanity and you yourself have to decide according to your will if you want to choose a single or double hole configuration. Now a days the faucets that are coming in the market are the ones, which clear the high rim of the sink basin. Faucets having a height of about 4'' or more give plenty of room to spare clearing most sink basin rims.

Advantages of Vessel sink:

Installation: The installation of these sinks is not too costly and the drain pipe also requires just one whole cut out. Style: Gives your bathroom a very good style at a low cost. Changeability: These sinks are not fixed at a place and can be changed easily.

Disadvantages:

Durability: These are prone to breakage.

Cleaning: It is difficult to clean some part of these sinks especially the place where vanity and basin meets. Overflow: There are chances of overflowing every time, as these sinks do not come with overflow relief drains.
