Best Laser Printer: A Review of the HP LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer

By Jacob Akshire

The best laser printer is hard to find, especially if you're not looking at the right direction. Good thing I have always been an HP fan, and knowing that the company can produce excellent models of laser printers has made it easy for me to find one. A perfect example is the HP LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer. I have created this review to clearly point out the excellent features as well as some undesirable ones of this printer.

Design

This is a unique laser printer because it's very different from other conventional laser printers. This device has a very nice, sleek black finish that looks great in any location. It's also weather-resistant because of its dark color, so no matter how old this device is, it doesn't show. I especially love how it fits my multi-purpose entertainment room where all my techie tools are. It has a very compact size of 13.74'' x 9.38'' x 7.71'' and a weight of 11.6 pounds. It's small enough to be carried around and transferred from one place to another, but who needs to do that if it has an integrated wireless capability function?

The printer is wireless-enabled so sharing it with multiple computers is very easy. As for me, I find this very convenient especially when I'm working upstairs. I don't have to transfer to the downstairs computer just to have documents printed out. The printer also has a front panel on-screen display which makes it easier to observe the performance of the printer and monitor its activities.

Printing and Other Functions

I can't definitely say that this is the best laser printer, but I believe it is close to being so. The printer is basically monochrome as it is laser, and it can print to a speed of up to 19 pages per minute. The resolution of the prints can result up to 2 x 600 x 600 dpi. Although it doesn't feature automatic duplex printing, you can manually install it because the printer has a driver support provided for that specific feature.

This model has the printer technologies of HP FastRes 600 and HP FastRes 1200. It also has a high printer memory of 8 MB so you can pile up several documents pending for print. Most common papers are supported by the printer which includes letter, legal, executive, postcards, and envelopes. Its duty cycle is 5000 pages, which allows you to print 5000 maximum pages in one month.

Although the priority paper feeder only accommodates 10 sheets, the input tray can carry up to 150 sheets, which makes it easy to print because you don't have to refill the feeder frequently.

Other Features

The printer is wireless-enabled so it's very easy to work with several computers using this printer. It is also a very environment-friendly device because it saves a lot of energy through its automatic on/off function. The instant-on technology makes it faster to produce printouts because you don't have to warm the device. Just turn it on and it's ready to function. It's also an Energy Star qualified device so you not only gain the benefits from using it, you also help preserve Mother Nature. I particularly like this feature because I am an advocate of environmentalism.

Conclusion

Apart from its excellent features and quality printing, the brand of this printer makes it an even better buy. Although there are some issues regarding its printing where it burns the paper, I think this is a minor issue which can be settled easily. I didn't experience this and I can say this is one of the best laser printers that I have ever used. It may not have the highest ratings, it may not have the most positive reviews, but for me, the HP LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer is a remarkable device which I will never trade for another. And for those out there looking for a good laser printer that's compact, wireless, and very energy-efficient, I highly recommend this model.
