Getting your very own apartment, gives you the sense of being independent. While this can be exciting, there are still things you need to learn about renting. Each landlord will have their own rules, which will be printed on the contract you sign. These are things you can inquire about, when looking for Ithaca apartments.

Most landlords will give each resident two parking spaces per unit. If you have visitors who park on other residents parking spaces, their cars can be towed away. It is important to inquire about where extra cars you have, or guests can park when visiting you.

Some landlords have washer and dryer connections in each unit. This allows you to purchase your own washer and dryer to use in your apartment. This leaves you with only paying the light bill aside from the rent. Other landlords will not include any utilities in the rent payment. This leaves you paying the rent plus any other utilities, such as electricity and water.

It is important to know these things before signing the lease. The lease tends to last six months to a year. You do not want to be stuck living in a place, where you are not happy with the rules.
