Phone calls can be an important part of a lawyer's day. They can negotiate for their clients on the phone and get results from the comfort of their office. Attorneys are also spending an increasing amount of time handling electronic correspondence with clients and other members of the legal team.

Attorneys also spend a great deal of time meeting with potential clients. Most firms offer a free consultation and the attorneys take these seriously because often these are the cases that they will be working on next. It is also a great deal for the consumer because they receive legal advice at no charge and are able to find a lawyer who best suits their needs.

Many professional organizations require their members to complete a continuing education program each year. An upstanding lawyer will belong to a number of professional organizations like the American Bar Association. They will spend at least some of their time keeping their knowledge of the law current.

What does a criminal defense lawyer do? They spend their day fighting on behalf of their clients. The legal system can be extremely complex and complicated. Hiring a lawyer who is knowledgeable and experienced fighting for people just like you will be the best way to ensure that any criminal charges are reduced or dismissed.
