Make Your Name Badge Inserts More Interesting

By Silve Wilson

Nowadays everywhere you look you will see name badges every shop worker wears them, council workers and anyone else who deals with the public all wear them. However, by far the most popular place for name badges are conferences. Those badges come in all shapes and sizes and not only tell you who you are speaking to, but many also make a statement.

The traditional conference name badge is a vinyl sleeve with an insert that has the attendees name on it. You used to have to create them prior to the conference, but now it is possible to print and assemble each one as attendees arrive. The detail you put on them is up to you, most include the name, firm and job title of the attendee.
Colourful or innovative name badges can act as an icebreaker for conference attendees. The more creative you are with you conference badges the more this is the case.

Colourful name badges or inserts that are a different to the norm can create a talking point for delegates, and employees, and depending on the subject matter, can help conference visitors feel familiar and at ease. So why not get creative and really involve your audience with your event?

If you have an unlimited budget you can get a graphic designer to design your conference badges and they can come up with some really unusual designs. However, in this day and age conference organisers are more likely to create their own design and send it away to be printed.

Ask delegates in advance to send you fun details about themselves, if you want a friendly relaxed feel, a picture of a favourite pet, or a picture of themselves as a child. Other ideas include 3 things that they like to do on weekends, or even the one question that they would most like to be asked at the conference. However you choose to make your conference name tags, make sure delegates know well in advance and remind them in the opening conference to check other name badges for hidden details. Be sure to set a deadline or use a set of default details just in case your delegates don't send you any information, or you may end up with a lot of empty name badges.

Name badges should attract attention, so need to be as unique as possible without going over the top. You do not want conference attendees to be embarrassed to wear them.
