Orchestrating A Group Study Session

By Franklin Skribbit

A college education is worth every penny, if you put in the work to get something out of it. You can come away with an education and skill set ready to benefit the business world. Not everyone comes away with this education though. Some students treat it like they did High School all those years ago: do what it takes to pass and not a bit more.

For those returning students who have found themselves in this situation, no matter what their collegiate degree in Phoenix, one of the best ways that they can help themselves to keep up with their studies and to learn the material being presented to them is through the proper and frequent use of a group study session. The first step in setting up an effective group study session is to organize the group itself.

But no matter how beneficial term papers are to both the student and the instructor, it does not mean that term papers are easy to write. Writing the term paper itself is a task that many find difficult due to the writing process that they use, but if they would take the steps necessary to change their personal writing method to a more effective way, some students of business in phoenix would find that writing their term papers is not as difficult as previous thought.

Second, take good notes in class. Listen carefully to the lecture and fill in the holes in your understanding. If the class is hard, consider taking a tape recorder in with you so that you can properly review the material later. Gloss over the concepts you already understand-briefly including no more than key terms and definitions.

This is not to say that there is no place for free writing in the process of writing a paper, because there in fact is. Free writing can be used to great effect as a way for a student to get into the hard to capture writing mood and help them to put their ideas down on paper, however rudimentary those thoughts and ideas may be.

This leader can change from session to session with each member taking turns leading the study or only one or two people can be chosen to lead all of the groups study. This and other important decisions can be made by the group in their first meeting.

Another such important decision that the group can make on their first meeting together will be how to organize the study sessions to follow. In general, the decision to simply wing it or to just compare notes is less effective.

Finding the right methodology of how to approach a term paper will largely be up to the individual student to figure out how they can best fit a writing method to their personal learning and writing style. Still, there are a few template ways in which a student can start with in order to find the way that works best for them.

To keep the material fresh, try yourself on the concepts again in a couple of days. If you do well, test yourself in a couple weeks. Move up onto months to keep the information usable in the future. You'll find yourself graduating from Phoenix colleges with more than just a degree at the end of your school career.
