How many times have we heard "it's not about what you know but who you know"? Networking has never gone out of style and it is skill that deserves attention even today. So here are ten ways to get it done properly:

A sales training education will teach you how to sell your products to your target audience. All salespeople have to start by understanding how they are going to get to know the audience that they are selling to.

You want to start by gaining a full understanding of your product and how it is going to fulfill the need of your target audience. It is important to show your target audience why your product is something that they are going to need. As a salesperson you will not only be selling, but you will also find that you are involved with marketing. Often times in small companies you will find that sales and marketing tend to intertwine on a consistent basis.

Having an understanding of how you are going to market your product and how you are going to market yourself as you are selling will be important. You want to take time developing a selling and marketing strategy to ensure that you are able to get your product out efficiently.

This ultimately means that an understanding of accounting is as important as anything else. If a salesman really wants to survive he has to be able to see where he is losing money and whether he is spending his time efficiently enough.

Fifth- Respect your contact by treating them the way you would want to be treated. Just remember if it would be annoying if someone did it to you then it is probably the same for them.

Sixth-Don't open a whole can of warms the first time you meet them. It is better to gradually ease your way into things.

You do not want to burn bridges when you are working in sales or marketing, the community can be a lot smaller than you would expect. Do your best to get to know everyone that you work with and develop quality relationships with them.

Your clients can be another great source of networking. As you work with your clients, their recommendation can provide you with the ability to reach new clients that already trust you because of a simple recommendation.

Almost every company works with some sort of sales team. If you are interested in sales, do not hesitate to find a specialty and sell something that you are passionate about and that you have confidence in. Pursuing your education in sales can be a great way to ensure that you are able to find a job that you love. Don't be afraid to contact a local school to find a degree that will help you ascertain your dream job in sales.
