Visit the San Diego Aquarium and Zoo

Zoos in San Diego include the renowned San Diego Zoo where animals thrive in tropical jungles, African forests, and reproduced natural habitats serving as home to thousands of exotic animals, some of which have been brought back from the point of extinction. A giant surprise included in the zoos in San Diego is an aquarium camouflaged as a favored theme park visitor attraction.

San Diego Zoo

Enough cannot be claimed about the majesty of the 100 acre San Diego Zoo. Situated in Balboa Park in San Diego, California, the San Diego Zoo is home to over 800 species and 4,000 animals including the giant Panda. The zoo in San Diego is fanatical about conserving and rescuing species. At the zoo in San Diego endangered wildlife are bred in the zoo only to be released in their natural habitat. There are many animal zones for viewing animals in their natural environment at the San Diego Zoo. One of the most well-liked animal areas is the Polar Rim where visitors can see the Polar Bear, Arctic Aviary and Reindeer exhibits. Nearby is Panda Canyon, which is home to the world famous San Diego Zoo's Giant Pandas. The Lost Forest animal zone is a tropical habitat for many endangered wildlife and includes apes, hippos, monkeys, and an enormous variety of birds. Youngsters are exposed to nature and fauna in a personal way in the Discovery Outpost in the children's zoo, reptile house, insect house, crocodile and turtle exhibit, and the Sea Lion Show. Step into the magical Hummingbird House to watch hummingbirds enjoying life in an exciting indoor tropical jungle setting, complete complete with waterfalls.

SeaWorld

The most heavily visited San Diego aquarium is situated within SeaWorld. Visitors can walk through the globe's most massive underwater tunnels to be astonished by sharks in their habitat as they swim overhead. Come face to face with Shamu and other killer whales as they swim up to the glass wall of their million-gallon pool. The most original and pretty aquariums in SeaWorld are the Cirque de la Mer and the California Tide Pool. Visitors are stupefied by the unusual and colourful ocean life on show in the Cirque de la Mer aquarium. The California Tide Pool gives visitors an exceptional chance to really reach in and touch the mysterious sea creatures that dwell in a tide pool, like anemones, sea urchins, star fish.

Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography

Another preferred San Diego aquarium is the Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography where giant aquariums bring the mystery of sea life sufficiently close to touch with more than 60 habitats full of Pacific ocean life. Some popular exhibits include ""There's Something About Seahorses", Kelp Forest, and Coral Displays, Living Tide Pools where visitors can touch ocean life, Shark Reef & Hall of Fishes, and much more. The Birch Aquarium is unique in that it concentrates on local San Diego coastal ocean life and also does conservation and research in conjunction with the UCSD (University of California at San Diego).
