Royal Caribbean's Splendor Of The Seas

By Tawnya Kirkwood

Splendor of the Seas is one of Royal Caribbean's Vision Class ships. This class of ship is noted for their size and first class accommodations. Making its maiden voyage in March of 1996 this mammoth vacation liner is eight hundred and sixty seven feet in length. The thousands of windows afford passengers breathtaking views of the ocean and ports of call.

If boredom should happen to be one of your concerns, be advised that a two week cruise is not enough time to sample all that is offered. New friends will gather for a boisterous game of basketball. Others will try the challenges of rock climbing. The spas offer opulent comfort with body massages and whirlpools. Both indoor and outdoor pools are available for taking advantage of swimming in any weather.

This magnificent ship is also home to the University of Miami Ocean Lab. Admittedly the person drawn to this attraction would have an interest in science but students make up some of curiosity seekers. Nothing less than a state of the art oceanographic and atmospheric science lab, the average person would be entranced at what can be found there.

Aptly named The King and I, this is the main dining room of the ship. Thousands of meals are served daily and offer the palette many delicacies. The display of the entree alone is enough to whet the appetite. You can choose from veal, chicken, beef, seafood, and practically any food you desire. For a lighter fare the endless buffet offerings of the Windjammer will satisfy the pickiest appetite. The younger set may find the gourmet sandwiches and pizza sufficient served by the Cafe Promenade.

Every taste in entertainment is offered. You can be transported to Broadway through the talents of the of an excellent cast. The comedic actions of another will bring many laughs, while the magician will astound you with his feats of magic. For the gambler, the high seas offer a full casino with offerings such as slots, poker, roulette, blackjack, and many other games of chance.

Just because you are at sea does not mean that your accommodations shouldn't offer the comforts of home. There are interior and ocean view staterooms and some have balcony's. Top of the line luxury suites with full size balcony's are the equivalent of a small penthouse. Amenities include television, telephone, showers, private baths, and vanities and this is only the top of the list.

If a cruise is something you are still considering, you will not be disappointed with any of the amenities that are offered by Splendor of the Seas. If the cruise is fully booked, many sister ships of the Vision Class line will offer you the same privileges. The experience of a lifetime is only a call away. Get your reservation soon.
