Basic Fundamentals About A Saskatchewan Electrician

By Andrea Davidson

Saskatchewan electrician refers to a tradesperson whose area of expertise lies in electrical wiring of machines, buildings, and different types of structures and equipment. This specialty is split into two major classes, that is, wiremen and linemen. Linemen focus on working on electrical utility distribution systems. Such systems are normally at very high voltages. Wiremen work with low voltages, which are consumed in residences, offices, and equipment.

Wiremen normally have enough training in one among the five divisions of electrical wiring. The divisions are light industrial, commercial, residential, low voltage, and industrial wiring. There are other minor sub-specialties within the bigger fields such as fire alarm and control wiring. There are three main levels of training someone can pass through to attain the highest rank within this sector. The levels are Apprentice, Master, and Journeyman electrician.

Apprentices in Saskatchewan work to learn the electrical trade. They spend several hours in class and are contracted to adhere to apprenticeship standards for a varying period of between 3 to 6 years. During that period, they are paid a given percentage of the salary earned by Journeymen electricians. The period one spends on apprenticeship depends on the field they are specializing in and how fast they master concepts.

After an apprentice finishes the apprenticeship period, they become Journeymen. However, it is not a guarantee that one will become a Journeyman after completing the apprenticeship period. They have to prove to local, state, or national licensing bodies that they are competent in their work. Competency is tested by a test set by the licensing committee. Failure to pass the test may deny one the chance of getting the license to practice.

One reaches the position of a Master electrician after performing well for a period of between 7-10 years. Within that time, they have to show that they possess better knowledge about nationwide or worldwide standards in the career. At that position, one can serve as a reference and/or consultant for other upcoming electricians, government agencies, or companies.

Service electricians specialize in offering quick response service to requests forwarded by customers for isolated system upgrades or repairs. They have advanced knowledge and skills in installing electric wiring in already existing frameworks, doing repairs, and troubleshooting wiring issues. They may work separately in workshops or they might be part of response teams in companies. They are trained up to the Master or Journeyman level.

Construction electricians deal with bigger projects than service colleagues perform. They install new electrical infrastructure in an entire building or do an upgrade on an entire floor of a workplace as part of remodeling. Additional fields in which one could specialize include theater, hospital, marine, stage lighting, and research. Each specialty has its own skills even though major principles of working are the same. The tools used and the working conditions remain similar in many cases too.

A Saskatchewan electrician is properly trained to make sure that the codes of conduct and standards of the practice are kept. They are distributed evenly in the region making it simple to access them. They offer reasonable rates for the services they provide to clients.
