By Andres Castille

The way we manage our skin should be in accordance with the climate and the different weather changes.

In fact as varied as our climate and weather change throughout the year; our skin care needs to be treated accordingly. It can be quite disconcerting trying to maintain healthy skin. In this article we will take a look at a few of the things that you can do to help yourself have great skin during those cold and dry winter months.

Don't skimp on the sunscreen. The skies may not be bright and sunny during the winter and, for this reason, many people do not think sunscreen is necessary. The truth is that harmful rays can filter through clouds as well. Basically, it is wise to wear sunscreen throughout the year, whatever the weather conditions. Cold weather can dry your skin. Sunscreen has moisturizers that will help keep your skin moist and soft during the wintertime. On a more positive note, you certainly won't have to cover as much of your body during the winter as you do during the summer. The main areas of concern here are your hands and your face.

Your lips are at particular risk during the cold and winter months. It's not unusual to see someone whose lips have become cracked and are peeling as a result of cold, dry winter weather. It's to your best interest to keep your lips protected all the time. Always wear a chap stick, or lip balm, during the winter. It's also not a good idea to lick your lips. So, if you do this habitually, pay attention and stop yourself. You can also keep your lips protected by keeping them hidden behind a scarf whenever you go outside. This is a great way to protect your lips, as well as your throat and nose.

Shed those wet clothes as soon as you can! Wearing clothes that are damp can cause skin irritation. Your gloves and your socks are the biggest culprits in this respect. Your skin may itch, crack, or you could even get sores or other serious conditions, such as eczema. Putting up with wet clothes is just a commonplace irritation that everyone has to deal with when they go outside in rainy or snowy weather. The best remedy is to change into something warm and dry at your first opportunity. Those of you who work may wisely decide to have a change of clothing - or at least dry socks - tucked away somewhere at your work place, or even in a duffle bag in your car. Just think "warm and dry" because that's the goal you want to achieve at all times.

It's important to keep in mind that your skin care routine doesn't change during the different seasons.

As luck would have it, you are saved from the misery that the cold used to bring. There are tons of things you can do to maintain fresh looking skin. If you get discouraged when trying some of these products, you need to bear in mind that the perfect product for your skin will likely not be the first couple that you try; you just have not tried the right one yet.
