Define An Independent Representative.

By Douglas Blackley

Network marketing uses independent representatives to reach prospects that might not be reached using other methods.

Independent representatives are recruited the same way traditional companies recruit their sales forces. Network marketers seek out individuals who want to represent the product of service they have to offer and bring them on as independent representatives. These folks are not employees. They are associates who represent the company's product or service and present it to the marketplace.

An independent representative is usually a small business man who works from home. They are usually not limited geographically as to where they can sell. Therefore, some of them advertise and sell locally while others go to the internet where they can market to a greater audience.

What motivates companies to use independent representatives instead of traditional advertising and sales methods? Independent representatives create networks of people who do not respond to traditional sales methods. Their networks tend to build trust with the representative which makes them much more likely to respond positively to a purchase recommendation.

Companies who use independent representatives typically find that sales and marketing expenses are far less and the productivity on the representative is much higher than traditional marketing methods.

Companies trust their representatives to evaluate their network of friends and families to determine who might be interested in the products or services they represent without hounding them. Attraction marketing comes to mind when assessing the techniques which work best.

As you develop your network, you're likely to come across others who have an interest in becoming a small business man. As an independent representative, you have the opportunity to reach out, welcome and coach them to become a success. Great psychological income!

You must posses the ability to run a small business as well as detailed knowledge of marketing and sales techniques necessary to be successful.

Do you like working with people? If so, a career in network marketing can be very rewarding. If you prefer not to work with others, you are advised to steer clear of network marketing.

If you want to be your own boss you must understand that the responsibility for you success or failure will be your responsibility and your responsibility only. You must have the discipline to hold yourself accountable.

Working from home makes terrific sense in today's economy. If you intent to successfully join the ranks of independent marketers, you will have to apply the old adage "Quitters never win, Winners never quit!"

Best regards,

Doug
