This type of devices are used in certain machines to help in rotation movements. One of the areas that they are used is in the precision robotic joints. Another area is in the semi conductor equipment and also in the measuring systems.

The other area that then thin type comes in handy is in the medical systems and also medical equipment. Astronauts benefit too since their equipment have them too. This extends to even aerospace defence where their equipment has thin section bearings for them to function. Tire making equipment also uses this. The uses could be endless as basically everything that needs rotation movement requires a bearing.

Finally, we can have very many types of non friction devices. It is only one's choice of which suits their needs best. The different types are due to then difference in the material sued to make them as well as the size of the device too.
