Bead bracelets have been worn since well before the rise of the modern ages. More than two millennia ago, ancient fighters and shamans wore these bracelets as mighty talismans to ward off evil spirits and grant the wearer courage in battle. Ancient beads, or charms, were worn both on necklaces and on bracelets. The beads were made of simple materials like stones and wood.

Throughout the centuries, bead bracelets experienced an upgrade when gemstones and precious metals like gold and silver were engaged to create beads. Although not in the form of bracelets, beads were even used as money by some Native American tribes. Manhattan Island was bought and partially paid for using beads.

Queen Victoria of Great Britain was very fond of bead and charm bracelets and gave them as gifts, prompting their huge popularity throughout Europe. US soldiers returning home from the Second World War brought beads, charms, and small trinkets back home as mementos of their time spent in various European countries, many of them distinct to the particular country or region where they were stationed. The 1920s and 1930s also saw platinum and diamond beads and charms gain widespread popularity. Hollywood actresses from the Golden Age of Cinema helped to popularize bead bracelets in the 1950s and 1960s. Glamorous screen icons like Elizabeth Taylor and Joan Crawford, resplendent and otherworldly, would display their bracelets on the silver screen, increasing their popularity with women everywhere.

So every time you wear your bead bracelet, keep in mind that it's not purely just a reflection of you, your personality, and your interests, it continues a custom that men women have been following for centuries, using beads during special times in their lives. These bead bracelets have a proud legacy. When creating your bead bracelet, commemorate your memories and legacy, with anenduring homage to the past.
