In the old times there were no vacuum cleaners, there have been large place mats imported from Persia (now Iran). The moment the living room area carpet turned out to be dirty with dirt, they were pulled out of the house and thrown over a what we generally known as a wash line and presented a firm beating with the carpet beater made of bamboo sticks imported from Jakarta the Capital of Indonesia, to have the dirt off, then positioned back within the living room floor to enjoy again.
The preliminary schools these days lasted Six years, Monday to Friday, and Saturday mornings, Wednesday afternoon free. Some schools began having a small bottle of milk provided by the government for all the students. There has never been any kind of groundwork, almost all class work was completed in school, that has been fantastic.
Precisely how did the early generation expend their leisure time? Many of us were listening to radio programs, which came on each night around 7 pm with continuing drama, that made you wish to hear the next episode the subsequent night. Likewise many of us would have a spare time activity, my favourite hobby was monochrome Photography, In the bedroom of the house was a deep closet which i turned into a hobby closet, together with 3 trays that looked like trays for paint but wasn't, 1 was used for developer, 1 for rinsing and the other for backing the pictures.
Needed was a Paterson tank to build up the negatives, an enlarger to create the photos and the 3 baths. Once the pictures went through these baths, they were clipped on a wash line to dry similar to the laundry.
