As an online social media platform, Facebook is probably the most popular. For many, it is the largest and most vital social media outlet. Although they are totally different as platforms, the only other system that can compete is Twitter. Once upon a time, Facebook was only for pure socialization. It has evolved into an excellent marketing platform and can be used to generate cash. You can either create a Fan page and sell directly to your followers repeatedly or through advertising. You have to have fans for your page to achieve this. Here are some helpful hints so that you can do exactly that.

Put the Facebook widget on your website. This is a highly effective method of informing the people visiting your site that you also have a fan page on Facebook. The widget is easy to make. There's a tool on Facebook you can use. You can simply add the code to your site after you've created the widget and changed its appearance to something more suitable. The ideal location for the widget is the sidebar, though some people prefer to dedicate a whole page to them or place them on their footers. The widget sets up a link to your Facebook page but also shows how many people are following you and "like" you.

This might be an embarrassing number when you first get started but as it grows the number itself could be the draw that brings in more people!

This is a particularly good strategy when it comes to customers who aren't too happy about subscribing to an email list. They can track you without having to worry about spam. You certainly won't be spamming them but some people are simply suspicious. This is an effective approach for offline entrepreneurs and traditional business as well.

You need to register as a fan of your page as well. You will show the people in your personal circles that you believe in your business when you become a fan of your own page. It's a much better way to introduce people in your personal circle to your fan page instead of just sending them a notice requesting that they "like" your page. Showing the strength of your beliefs in your own projects is far more important than simply asking for help without providing any proof that you actually deserve it. If you have a public personal profile this can work even better because the public will see that you believe in yourself as well.

There are a lot of ways for you to become more popular on Facebook. You can include the URL in your emails or put it up on your sites. You can run contests. You can directly publicize the page. Imagination is the key to success. It won't be enough to just set the page up. You have to do a lot of work to make sure it deserves to be "liked" and once you've done that it won't take long before you can take advantage of your Facebook popularity to increase your sales.
