Part-Time Government Positions

By Gail Esperanza

Since 1978, legislation has encouraged the federal government to hire part-time personnel. The truth is, the federal government has been highly effective in creating "job sharing situations." By hiring two job seekers for one position, it gives the flexibility that's needed for time off and increases the productivity of the employee. Part-time employment is available in both state and local governments and there are plenty of occupational fields available. Part time employment can as well be temporary or contract work and a lot offer on the job training. Here are just some examples of the part-time federal positions that exist.
