Ways To Stay Safe When Doing Evening Photography

By Sue T Wouod

I wasn't really confident which cities deemed stun guns legal in Illinois therefore I asked my cousin for help. She was doing some kind of training to be a law enforcement officer here within Springfield and it turned out there were so many stuff I needed to be aware of.

Stun guns are legal. But, I need to have a valid Firearm Owner's Identification card or FOID before any person is going to sell me a stun weapon. For an American citizen above 21 years old and without a criminal history, it should not become a problem.

Just last December, the U.S. Court of Appeals in Chicago ruled for the citizens' right to possess firearms for self-defense outside the home, and it ought to apply to stun guns also.

This is good news since I have just been asked to do a coffee table book with a writer and we are going all over the state to photograph some of the famous and also lesser-known destinations.

What I dread most is evening photography. I remember on one occasion I was taking a picture inside Detroit. This was about 1 a.m. and I hadn't noticed someone coming up behind me until I felt something pointy behind my neck.

I broke out in cold sweat. He took my Canon EOS Mark II, my cellular phone, cash, everything. If only I had something with me at that time, like a stun weapon or a Taser or even pepper spray, then I could have had a fighting chance of incapacitating the guy and going straight for the police station.

That isn't going to occur once again for this job. No freaking way. At this time, my partner and I are planning for the travel. This could take a year, in order that we could cover all 4 seasons within the state.

I was thinking we would go to the "safer" areas initially and proceed to the not-so-safe areas after I get my FOID and a stun weapon. A number of citizens still do not reckon stun gadgets legal in Illinois however we know better exactly how necessary one is.
