Traveling Or Holidaying In Thailand Is A Spectacular Southeast Asian Country

Thailand is one the the most visited countries in the world by backpackers and holiday makers. It is usually the first country visited on a travel trip around Southeast Asia. There is something for everyone in Thailand. The country has world class dive sites, spectacular islands and beaches and an incredible cultural heritage.

Bangkok is the most likely arrival point for those coming to Thailand. This vibrant city ha a lot to offer visitors and it is well worth getting away from the Koh San Road area of Banglamphu and spending time and other parts of the city. You will likely want to get out fairly soon though and head to one of the beautiful beaches on one of the islands.

Backpackers can easily get around Thailand and enjoy most of the main attractions on a modest budget, including some of the more well known islands. If you are on a short holiday to Thailand and want to enjoy beach-life then the choice can be overwhelming. Which island to visit really depends of what you want to do and what your needs are.

Families will be best suited to the beaches of Phucket, Koh Samui, Koh Pi Pi or Koh Lanta as these offer a higher level of accommodation options and better facilities. Party animals will love Koh Phangan for its party scene, especially during the full moon.

Those who like the hippy/reggae scene will enjoy Koh Chiang. Lonely beach on the island has live reggae each night and a beautiful beach. Koh Tao is probably the best and cheapest island in which to learn to scuba dive.

The beach on Thailand's mainland are also very popular. These include: Pataya, Hua Hin and Krabi. Pataya and Hua Hin are pretty close to Bangkok. Krabi is a little further south but offers fantastic scenery and awesome climbing activities. Krabi also has the famous limestone Karst known as James Bond Island, which juts out of the sea. It looks spectacular from the beach at Au Nang.

Chiang Mai is Thailand cultural center. It is situated in the North of Thailand and is a beautiful city with many historical attractions for visitors including Lanna era temples. Not too far out of the city, on top of a hill is Wat Doi Suthep, which is a beautiful Buddhist temple complex with stunning views over Chiang Mai. The north region has many trekking opportunities too.

Chiang Mai is also a great place to learn more about Thai culture, and it is also possible to learn how to cook delicious an spicy Thai Food. Thailand has something for everyone. It also the ideal first stop on a backpacking trip around Southeast Asia, which may include Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Indonesia, Bali, Sulawesi, Borneo and many other exciting destinations.
