Top Rides at Disney World in Florida

By Steve Alexander

You may think Disney World Resort in Florida is just for the kids, but there are many amazing rides that are sure to wow the adults. The main reason many families visit here every year is that it has something for everyone.

Soarin' offers the ultimate in fear and excitement for many Orlando visitors, although it may not have the twists and turns of its more obvious siblings. Using state-of-the-art IMAX projections, it's a simulated hand-glide over California. You get the thrill of soaring and flying through the air at heights of over 40 feet, as well as witnessing the breath taking beauty of California.

Head to Animal Kingdom for Expedition Everest - a brilliant rollercoaster with its many twists, drops and turns, plus a yeti in hot pursuit. Expedition Everest was listed in 2011 in the Guinness Book of Records as the world's most expensive rollercoaster, costing close to 100million. And you can see where the money went. It's a joy from start to finish and the attention to detail is a real treat in itself.

Star Tours is the ride for you if you're a fan of Star Wars, and can be found in Hollywood Studios. Taking you through some of the franchise's key scenes, it starts with a spectacular queuing system that takes you through some of the franchise's key scenes before boarding a flight simulator and jet off on a thrilling 3D adventure. To make the ride even better in 2012, lots of new features and experiences have been added.

Dinosaur has got to be up there with the scariest rides in Florida. You board a 'time rover' which takes you back to pre-historic times, to a time when dinosaurs roamed the earth - in complete darkness! It's a creepy, bumpy ride and there are countless creatures designed to make you jump out of your skin on the journey. It's a thoroughly disorientating experience with a finale that's not for the faint hearted.
