What One Should Know About Teleform

By Tamera Keith

Since it was developed by Hewlett Packard over twenty years ago, Teleform has become widely known as one of the first applications to be created for image scanning and data collection. The application focuses on many different facets of job completion and can be used for a number of different purposes. A lot of people do not even know that this program ever existed because it is nowhere near as popular today as it was back then.

One of the key benefits of this application is the ability to develop all sorts of data that is easy to read by a number of different devices. It pulls and scans the information from scanned images, which is another positive factor of this electronic tool. Correcting and reviewing such data is just another thing that can be accomplished with this software.

Data storage is integrated within this program instead of within a different system or software package. It allows information that is entered into specific forms to be saved within a corresponding database. This includes responses from telephone calls as well as questionnaires that are distributed over the internet.

One of the amazing features of this application can be witnessed firsthand after the handwritten documents have been entered into the scanner. After being inputted into the system, the information is collected and read so that it can be further processed internally. It is then considered, properly evaluated and then verified before the information is finally exported into the final databases.

A serious misunderstanding that should be cleared up immediately is that this application is able to function all by itself without any external support. This is far from the truth because there are many applications that are greatly supported by other programs and operating systems in order to operate properly. In the case of this specific application, the Optical Mark Reading software is that support system.

In the time before image scanners had even been developed or released in the technological world, Optical Mark Reading programming was being utilized. It worked hard to digitize various responses that would be collected from a variety of documents and other forms. This software type would modify the images along with its correspondence which was written by hand to be converted through mathematics algorithms into actual text.

The main purpose for this technology was to collect data that already existed within documented reports and other forms that were faxed. In the following twenty years after its release, the program worked hard for Hewlett Packard at creating a solid foundation for their business. That type of construction through their business plan laid the groundwork for future projects and innovative devices, such as scanners and multi-function printers.

This is an application that has been through several key modifications and updates over the past two decades since it was first established. The common trend with all different types of technology is that it is always growing, changing and evolving over time to exceed the wildest dreams and expectations of the people that originally created it. This theory is further proven when it comes to many key programs and applications, including the software that is now widely known as HP Teleform.
