Up And Coming Artist Dylan Reynolds To Release EP

By Doris Rivas

Dylan Reynolds is a new recording musical talent most known for his childhood ties with highly acclaimed hip-hop icon Mac Miller. His old friend, who has seen a lot of fame and success since he first hit the scene as an independent artist, is well aware of the value of knowing people in the industry. Much of Mac's success is owed to word-of-mouth from rapper Wiz Khalifa. He has since wanted to use his own influence in the music industry to help others catch their big break as well.

With the help of his friend's reputation and his own sheer gifts, new artist Dylan, began to work on his first EP titled "Me and the Producer" set to drop by the year 2013 at just 20 years old. But he's not quite who Miller listeners might expect. Soulful acoustics combined with contemporary lyrics and soft vocals create an ambiance reminiscent of singers like Howie Day or John Mayer.

Hailing from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the young musician discovered his calling at an early age, playing the role of drummer for the band "The Funky Chickens" at age five. He decided to learn how to play the guitar in high school and later attended London Music School. The demo title track for the EP was recorded at the school.

"Me and the Producer" was shortly followed by "Happy Birthday" in spring 2012 when Mac Miller in collaboration with Bongo Boy, introduced him to world through YouTube. The video they filmed immediately went viral on Twitter worldwide spawning the release of the music video for the track in July 2012. That video generated an amazing 25,531 views in only two months and the numbers continue to grow.

The first single off of EP "Me and the Producer", is called "Tightrope". It was released almost immediately after the Bongo Boy "Happy Birthday" video generated buzz. The lyrics have an inspirational message about getting through life and moving on from the past.

In addition to releasing his first single, the artist has formed a band. His drummer is Eric Downs. They have played a few venues that have had good crowds show up but as of yet, there are no set dates for tour. The band is currently finishing up a video shoot for the latest single "Looking Up". The track's success will have a lot to do with whether or not the EP gets released by 2013.

The young entertainers internet presence is growing. In just six months he's built up close to 5,000 followers on Twitter and he has reached over 1,000 Facebook fans. The Bongo Boy premiere and music video for "Happy Birthday" have spawned over 100,000 views within the same time-frame. Reputable names in internet music news have been following the musician's career in it's early stages and have released exclusive interviews about his music and new-found fame. Complex, Vibe To This, and Muziks My Life are among the growing list of publications that are covering him.

A growing fan-base and new track releases have set Dylan Reynolds up for a successful music career. As long as he continues to work hard there is nowhere else to climb but up. Will his talent be enough for him to achieve fame like his friend Mac has seen? His future in music is up to the listeners.
