This is the most unique city in the country. It is not under any state jurisdictions, but is under the control of Congress. Unfortunately, D. C. Has a reputation for drug trafficking and violence. However, crime levels have decreased over the years. There are still safe neighborhoods in Washington, DC. Enthusiasts can read further and learn about the most popular ones.

Not all areas in this city are dangerous like most people would like to think. The Eastern part of town should definitely be avoided. Columbia Heights on the other hand is very pleasant. Thousands of people from all walks of life call it home. It's located close to Spring Road. Most of the residents have middle class incomes.

The most well know community in D.C.is called Georgetown. It is very old with a significant history associated with the Civil War. The area is situated next to the Potomac River in Northwest D. C. Most residents are either young professionals or politicians. The main attraction is the clubs and shopping malls.

There is a small, but vibrant Chinatown in this city. It's home to Chinese families, which own popular restaurants. One thing that makes this area different from the others is the number of tourist that visit every year. They come to see the Dragon Dance and Kung Fu demonstrations. There is also a huge gate called the Friendship Arch located at the intersection of H St.

Adams Morgan is an equally attractive community centered at the intersection of Columbia Road and 18th Street. Housing prices there are also high, but residents are still able to afford them due to the abundance of white collar jobs. Many people enjoy the ethnic restaurants, jazz bars and beautiful parks.

One thing that the city is known for is politics. The majority of politicians live in a community called Capital Hill. It is by far one of the most expensive areas for housing. There is not much parking, however there are cultural attractions and private tours in DC.

The nation's capital has experienced the best and worst moments in the last 50 years. Many communities that were once ghettos are being revitalized. Many people enjoy living in the city because of the attractions, historic charm and convenient access to public transportation. Life there is not easy, however visitors can find something that appeals to them by moving to safe neighborhoods in Washington, DC.
