Aragorn Taking Control of Collection Companies

By Rob Sutter

It's hard not to see how Aragorn is one of the more intricate characters in literature. He is the wandering warrior of "The Lord of the Rings" and his strengths lie in the realms of both battle and diplomacy. He is a strong warrior but he can also be a shrewd negotiator, which is reflective of the kinghood he would soon take up. Aragorn can very well lead a series of collection companies, since his political ways as a king could come in handy.

I feel like the greatest reason as to why Aragorn would be a great head for collection companies would be in his impartial nature. During the first book, "The Fellowship of the Ring," it was clear that he didn't have any will to befriend Frodo Baggins and his friends from the Shire. However, he wasn't above letting the haunting Ringwraiths get their hands on Frodo's ring, so Aragorn fought in his defense. His impartial nature would be an excellent attribute, since debt collecting authorities such as R.R.S. have to show no favoritism whatsoever in any given situation.

Aragorn is not a pushover, either, which is another important factor when it comes to his personality. Even when in the presence of kings, he doesn't blindly follow them and he questions them at times. A debt collector must be persistent when it comes to the money that a debtor owes. Sometimes a debtor won't be entirely innocent on the matter and he or she will actively avoid calls or notices if they believe it will shake the collectors off of their backs. The truth, though, is that every red cent has to be accounted for.

I feel like a collector should have a high level of character most of all. Near the end of "The Fellowship of the Ring," Frodo offers the ring to Aragorn so that he could destroy it instead of him. The pull of the ring is strong, which is why many men have fallen to it. However, Aragorn resists the urge to take it for himself and informs Frodo that only he can be the cast it into the fire of Mordor. A collector has to stay true to the guidelines that he or she has been given and never lose sight of what's morally sound.

Aragorn is the character who seems to have the most human-like flaws yet shows himself to hold the most class. This is the way that a debt collector should be; not perfect by any means but enough of a hard worker to see every case through successfully. He possesses a strong sense of diplomatic worth and his ability to resist taking the easy way out is a good trait as well. It will be these very character traits that can help make Aragorn an effective debt collector.
