How To Advice For Selling Gift Cards

By Yesenia Velez

Selling gift cards is becoming a more common practice. This is due to the popularity of giving these for holidays and special occasions. The thinking behind the trend is to allow people to choose something that they want or need, rather than something that they may not want. This is a nice idea. However, once in a while it backfires and a card is bought for someone who is not going to use it. They could simply not shop at a particular store for one reason or another, or they may live too far from a store to make a trip there feasible. For them offering these thoughtful presents up for sale is a good option.

List them on Craigslist. Price them lower than the actual face value. This way those interested will be getting a deal and you will be getting some money. Both parties walk away from the deal happy and satisfied. Other online local classified sites are also an option. Though Craigslist does have a large following and would likely get your ad more notice.

If you need money quickly, a website will not be the best option. The reason for this is the fact that one will have to send the card in so it can be checked and authenticated. You will then receive your money. It is not something that can be done instantly. If you are not in need of immediate cash, this is an easy way to sell your card. Many websites promise payment within twenty-four hours after receipt.

Register with the website. Submit your information. Most will also have you print out a shipping label. This will be used to send the card in. You will also specify how you would like to be paid. Most will allow checks and PayPal payments. Of course PayPal will allow you to receive your payment faster that a check would.

If you know you are not going to be using a certain card, sell sooner rather than later. Certain ones may begin charging a maintenance fee after a certain amount of time. Say the first year, this means that each month after, you will have an amount deducted from your balance.

Ebay is another viable option. Be sure to read rules and regulations on the sale of these items before listing. Do not begin your bidding too high or you may find it sitting there unsold when your auction ends. By allowing a bidder to get a good deal, you both walk away happy.

Wait for your payment. Several of these types of sites say that you can expect payment within 24 hours of receipt. This means that it will hit your PayPal or bank account within 24 hours. Checks will take longer as they must be mailed and go through the postal system. A one week to ten day wait is not uncommon.

selling gift cards is a fast and easy way to make some extra money. This money can be used for something that you want. All of the above ideas take very little time or effort to accomplish.
