Help With Filling In A Job Application

When you submit an application for a job you will usually either submit it online or fill in a paper based form. Sometimes you will still have to fill in an application form even when you have already applied with a covering letter and CV. An application form is a quick and easy way for an employer to get all of the 'need-to-know' information about candidates.

You should pay lots of attention when you are filling out the form as your accuracy will possible make the difference as to whether you are offered an interview or not. In order to fill in a successful application you should adhere to the following:

Whether you apply online or through a paper application you should aim to gather all of the information you need together before attempting to fill the form in.

There are usually three sections that need filling in on application forms' personal details, education history and employment history. There is also usually a section for any referees you have. Aim to tackle each section separately.

You should aim to make sure that you complete all of the sections on the form and don't leave anything blank.

Make sure you fill in the form clearly and in either Blue or Black ink. Always be sure to check your spelling and grammar for errors and proofread your application before you submit.

Always list your most recent job first when it comes to the employment section. You should include any vocational qualifications as well as your school history under your education section.

The references you provide do not always need to be from a professional connection, you could also use an academic referee.

It is worth spending a lot of time on your application form as it is the first impression that employers get of you. It can be the difference between an interview or a rejection.

Finally- never forget to sign your application!
