A Delightful Adventure Visiting Beechworth

People all over the world dream of going to Australia. Stories abound about its history and the exciting things that happened many years ago. One of the towns that one should visit is Beechworth, which is located between Melbourne and Sydney. This town abounds with history and has the buildings and other things to prove it.

Original occupants of the region were the Aboriginals. This clan was a nomad like people who had a regular routine of moving from one area to the other as the weather changed. There are no longer any of these original people but one can find out much about them in the town's museum.

The town is also famous because gold was discovered there in 1852, which brought gold seekers from everywhere. It is reported that over a twenty five year period four million ounces of gold had been found. One activity available is being able to purchase a gold panning license and pan for gold. Wouldn't it be something to brag about if one could go home with a gold nugget, they panned themselves?

The town is an example of history remaining at its best. Restored and original buildings are in abundance. One will find the Beechworth Post Office, six churches and many other buildings that were built in the 1800's. Historic Ford Street presents gold rush buildings which allow one to re-live history at its finest.

In addition, history buffs will also enjoy things like the old court house, the carriage and Burke museums while exploring the area. Many people like visiting the Beechworth Cemetery, which holds the remains of many of its pioneers. When visiting the cemetery one will receive a brochure for a self-guided tour, describing the different points of interest.

Visiting the Historic and Cultural Precinct district, one will see how faithful the town's people have preserved its originality. This Precinct is famous as one of the best examples of preservation in the world. The people have carefully retained many original buildings in their natural state and one will find them in excellent condition.

Opportunities abound for those who like sports and activities. Things such as fishing, bike riding, tennis, wine tasting, golf, horseback riding, sports facilities, guided tours and many other things are available. There is something to interest every family member, including numerous of interesting shops for someone who enjoys seeing and buying things that are not available in one's hometown.

With the visitors comfort in mind, there are excellent accommodations available. These include studios, hotels, apartments and many more. Some have amenities such as the Internet, refrigeration, microwave and air conditioning. These establishments can be viewed on the Internet and it is always advisable to make a reservation before arriving in town.

The restaurants in Beechworth are outstanding and some of the best chefs in the country work there. Some hotels have a restaurant, in house, where one can get a leisure breakfast or dinner. However, if one wishes they can explore the numerous pubs and other eating places that offer an unusual array of food dishes that will satisfy even the most critical eater.
