Jet Airways India - Known by Everyone for Assertive Expansion and Growth

By Marc Limbeck

Jet Airways, based out of Mumbai India, is the country's largest airline as well as the leading domestic air passenger airline. Naresh Goyal (the company's initial founder and investor) still works as the head of the company, as he currently owns 80% of it. Every day, over 400 flights reach more than 70 international locations all over the world. Achieving and retaining the best reputation in the industry, due to accomplished goals, it has always a goal of this airline. That is something only made possible by very strong leadership and a high level of commitment.

Jet Airways began on April 1, 1992 when they were officially incorporated. Official operation as a commercial airline in India began a year later in May 1993. The company only had four Boeing 737-300 aircraft, and they were leasing them. It was a year later that the air carrier laws changed so that the company could make an application for status as a scheduled airline. In March 2004, the first international air passenger flight with the destination of Sri Lanka occurred. Jet Airways has grown to just under 100 aircraft since then and their fleet consists of turbo-prop and jet airliners.

In April of 2007, Air Sahara was purchased by Jet Airways for around $340 million US dollars and renamed JetLite.

In a statement, the company said that they owe much gratitude to their home country and to their people. Jet Airways established their Yellow Rose campaign in 1998. Giving clients service and support, as a rose requires to survive, was the idea behind this pitch. Contributions from the company have been given to needy people ever since this marketing campaign was released. The airlines also has made it clear that their benevolent attitude toward their society is also extended to all of their customers, as well.

Thanks to forward thinking management styles and aggressive marketing, Jet Airways has a fantastic rate of growth even though its not yet twenty years old. If you think about all of the major problems that Indian society faces, you have to give real credit to the Jet Airways founders for getting as far as they have gotten.
