"Sue the airlines" - A step against airlines

By Sunil Kumar

The option to "sue the airlines" is taken up by the passengers in a situation when the airlines and its staff take too much time to resolve the issues. This is a wild step but the passenger also becomes helpless and is left with no other option.

It becomes a stressful situation for both the passengers and the airline staff and the process of lodging a complaint is increasing with each passing day. After locking a complaint, it is quite natural for the passenger to expect a timely resolution.

In case of failure, these complaints are further escalated and in this manner the subsequent number of complaints increases.

In smaller issues, the passengers tend to ignore the incidents. In cases such as misplacement of baggage, theft of baggage, physical injury while on board, being served with stale food on board, flight delays without a proper justification, flight cancellations without any prior notice, etc., the passengers are left with no other option but to lodge complaints.

A grievance cell or passenger support center has been set up by many airline companies which work to handle these travel problems. With every passing day, the percentage of airlines complaints is increasing.

Sometimes, the airline companies tend to ignore the issues because of the fact that the passenger is neglecting the issues and it forces them to take a firm stand against the airlines.

Airline companies are increasing in number and they have to face intense competition in lieu of so many players available in the market. This has resulted in bringing down the airfares which have brought air travel within the reach of the middle class segment.

There are a number of negative aspects that are related to lowering down the airfares. This has resulted in poor services and an increase in the number of incidents daily. This is unavoidable.

In this case, the passenger has to lodge complaints or sue the airlines.
