Good leadership calls for the ability to work and relate well with others. Here are 10 qualities that a good leader should have.

Availability A good leader should be easily available to other people. He should be able to recognize needs and respond to them quickly.

Facilitating Harmonious Relationships A good leader knows the importance of good relationships and does his part in creating a harmonious atmosphere. Successful results are born out of harmony rather than conflict. Good leadership keeps conflict at a minimum.

Approachability A good leader is someone whom his subordinates feel they can approach at any time. Good leadership creates an environment where openness and honesty can occur in an atmosphere of fairness rather than judgment.

Not abusive of authority Sensitivity to the proper use, and conversely the misuse, of their authority is the whole mark of good leadership. He will not use his authority for self-advantage. Successful leaders use their positional power with wisdom and sensitivity to the appropriateness of the circumstances.

Discretion True leaders can have conferences and meetings where the ones included can feel that they trust the leader. There are discrete and respectful to everyone.

Self Motivated True leaders can set goals to motivate themselves and others. They understand the importance of personal and professional development. Successful leaders do what is necessary to upgrade their knowledge and skills and be on the cutting edge in their field. Successful leaders not only motivate themselves in personal development but also motivate those around them.

Gives support readily Good leaders are able to provide emotional support for those for whom they are responsible. They recognize the importance of encouragement and inspiring confidence and also give recognition of a job well done.

Can sustain a group's motivation and team spirit A good leader gives his employees incentives for quality performance.

Clear Communication A good leader is an excellent communicator. Their leadership involves communicating clearly the objectives and procedures required of a task. They set clear, attainable, and measurable goals.

Understands how a group works A good leader understands the dynamics of group relationships. True leaders can lead groups in harmony. They know just how to create a sense of unity in the group. They know how to work through the group's strengths and weaknesses to bring out the best.
