What You Must Know About Aeronautical Requirements For Pilots

By Bruce Hogan

There is a good chance that if you have your recreational pilots license that you are getting the desire to go further in your license. There are actually 9 levels when it comes to pilots licenses. If you are going on to the next level after the recreational you would be going into the 5th level.

It would seem that most pilots enjoy the private pilot status the most. You have to be at the age of 17 and over to qualify. Then there are going to be about 20 hours where you will receive flying instruction and then there are 10 hours where you will be flying alone. In total, you will probably have about 70 hours of flying time. The bonus of getting your private pilots license is you don?t have as many restrictions.

There is much you need to learn about the regulations. This includes those for jets multi engines and helicopters as well. You will now be able to take passengers with you not have to worry about being allowed to fly in bad weather, and you can fly day or night. You will have to complete a more detailed medical examination. Plus your certificate has to be updated every 2 years.

You will find with your private pilots license; there are still some things you cannot do, for example, you cannot be paid for flying. You can also add to your training instrument rating.

If you do this then you can fly in different types of weather conditions what this means is that you use your instrument as your flying guide. You are required to have this if you are going above 1800 feet .When you reach this standard of training you will have extra written verbal and flight test examinations also you will have to complete 50 hours cross country flying plus 40 hours of instrument time. You must use your new skills regularly or have to do a test every 12 months.

If you are thinking that you would like to be a commercial pilot then you need to be able to complete 250 hours of flying part of that must be 100 hours of you being in command plus 50 hours in an airplane plus another 100 hours in a power aircraft 50 of your command hours have to be cross country plus some other stipulations that go with this.

Then you can go on to be a certified flight instructor here you are the one that is giving the training to the other pilots below this level.

Then the next level up would be your airline transport pilot. You are getting close to the top of the pilot's credentials at this level. You must be 23 years of age or older. Also have 1500 hours flying time with 500 of those hours being cross country and 100 of those hours flying during the night hours then 75 hours of instrument training and a class one medical certificate finally there is the designated examiner, and now you are a qualified FAA pilot examiner.
