Dig Bala (Directional Strength)

In the Vedic astrology texts there is a program known as "Shad Bala" (translated as "sixfold strength"). This is a technique of evaluating planets and their impact in accordance with a variety of Universal reasons - many Astronomical in nature. Probably the most important components of Shad Bala (and easiest to use), is named Dig Bala - Directional Strength.

The general concept of Dig Bala is that planets will do much better supporting specific angles inside the chart than others. When a planet is closest to its very best Dig Bala position it not merely supports the angle, but Its goal is supported as well.

Dig Bala is often a Universal Principle, as each astrology chart will have four angles that relate for the various directions. As with all "Universal Astrology" principles, the rule itself is significant only in that we investigate and understand the reason why. After we just repeat a rule like "Mercury has Dig Bala from the first house, so it is good", we are adding nothing towards reading except a general black and white assertion. A single with the large difficulties with just memorizing rules without having understanding the "why", is that we wind up unable to untangle the contradictions of quite a few placements.

For example: we may possibly have a entire world that has very good Dig Bala, but it's debilitated or retrograde or owning incredibly tough aspects or ruling tough houses, etc. In fact, it is possible to count on these complexities. For this reason it's essential to understand exactly what Dig Bala strength shows for the planet, the house/angle in a very specific and detailed way.

In this class we will check why every globe has Dig Bala in the position it does and also compare/contrast that Directional position in the other Directional positions, specially its opposite placement -- wherever it's Dig Bala is lowest.

Directions Please,...

Every astrology chart we are heading to erect will have four directions as shown by houses 1, 4, 7 and 10. Let's check these positions in general.

The first house/ascendant will be the East. It shows the energy coming into birth at that time based on the certain position on the turning Earth relative to the sky inside local place wherever the chart is becoming drafted. The first residence shows the body/personality/style and overall experience in an individuals chart or people same qualities (minus the physical body) in an electional chart.

The fourth house/nadir will be the North. It shows what's the deepest and most hidden. If your draw a chart for wherever you will be sitting appropriate now, the nadir would be directly below you. The fourth residence shows the feelings and inner emotional life of someone or an event.

The seventh house/descendent stands out as the West. It shows that that may be furthest away inside the individual or event (that is born inside very first house). It is generally called the "relationship house". The seventh property shows that that is certainly entirely opposite the person or event. There's a powerful magnetic pull toward our opposite. The seventh household shows this and acts like a mirror for the first house.

The 10th house/midheaven is the South. It shows what is directly overhead and shows what has the greatest potential to impact us or the impact we can have. The 10th house shows the high quality of action and impact that a person or event can have over a world and/or that the world can have on the person or the event.
