Dental flossing is an effective method of removing food particles left in between teeth and gums. Brushing alone cannot guarantee that food debris left inside the mouth is removed.

So, it is better to use dental floss even after brushing. Plaque or tartar on the other hand, is hard to remove there is a need to visit your dentist and have it removed. In some cases, certain medications may also cause swollen gums. Stopping the use of drugs as early as possible may reduce swelling. In severe condition, like tumor or abnormal growth of the gingival, surgical procedures can be done.

A permanent solution to on how to treat swollen gums is to practice a regular and proper oral hygiene. This is the most simple and the best effective way to get rid of the oral bad bacteria.
