Jot down your problems. When you start to feel stressed and overwhelmed take a moment to write down what you're feeling. Write your emotions and feelings down immediately. Once you feel the stress, it is important to write it all down, meaning the time of day, and what may have happened before you felt these feelings. Jot everything down on your computer in a certain file so you know where it is. If you review what you have written, you may notice that there are certain things that are similar prior to each stressful situation. The triggers can vary from individuals that you interact with situations that occur repeatedly. Once you have positively identified what is causing you to be stressed, avoid these situations or events. Getting some time off might prevent these situations. If you start to feel overwhelmed or stressed out, or find that the effects of your stress are having a detrimental effect on your life, it is time to take a time out. Take ten minutes to sit in your car (if you're at work) or alone in another room (if you're at home) or even in a bathroom (if you are in public). It is also a good idea to just sit and breathe for a few moments. Don't let yourself think about what's bothering you. Slow methodical counting to 100 can help. By putting breaks into your weekly itinerary, you'll energize yourself to the point that what used to be stressful is now not so difficult to handle anymore.
