The Top Gun Flight Simulator of the Belgians

By Tim Cansfield

The field of flight simulation will never be the same again now that the Belgian company, Braco, has introduced a whole new generation of flight simulation games. Unveiled in October 11, 2011, Braco's Top Gun Flight Simulator features an immersive 360-degree flight simulation experience that no other flight simulation programs can compete with. Players of the Top Gun Flight Simulator get the opportunity to view things from an actual pilot's perspective. In addition, you also get the chance to stay inside a dome while doing virtual missions. Inside the dome, you can feast your eyes on a 360-degree view of the atmosphere.

The developers of Top Gun Flight Simulator emphasize that their flight simulation program does not only limit itself to upgrading or innovating the features of existing flight simulation video games. In fact, the team believes that Top Gun Flight Simulator is a mark of a new generation or a new realm for simulation video games. With a 360-degree cockpit, Top Gun Flight Simulator can be played in a series or in a solo sortie. The series feature allows eight systems to undergo the virtual training simultaneously with one another. You may also opt to undergo the virtual training on your own. More than 2 years have been allotted to ensure that Top Gun Flight Simulator exceeds expectations and standards set.

One of the highlights of the Top Gun Flight Simulator is the 3.4-meter diameter acrylic sphere that serves as the dome for the virtual missions with an array of 13 high-definition projectors. The pilot edition of the dome was bought by Elbit Systems to serve the Israeli Air Force. The full operations of the dome are expected to take off in 2012.

What makes this flight simulation program even more meaningful is how the team was able to counteract setbacks and challenges. Through the ambient lights produced by the meeting of white and black lights in the dome, the challenge of creating the contrast as seen by pilots in real life does not seem as challenging anymore.
