Don't Judge A Woman By The Car She Drives

By Katherine Jones

I think it takes a very strong man in order for him not to be intimidated by a strong and successful woman. Whether they admit it or not; I think most men are However, most people naturally assume that people who drive expensive cars are generally successful.

I have witnessed different treatment firsthand based on what car I drive. When I used to drive an older model, more affordable car, guys used to look over at red lights and try to get my attention constantly. Now that I drive a luxury car, it really seems like everyone is intimidated by me. Especially if my car is more expensive than theirs. This type of insecurity is hard to understand; I am in independent woman who makes my own money. Why on earth would the kind of car a guy drives matter to me?

Take a car like the Infiniti G37 for example. I figure most men would be quite intimidated by a woman driving it because the G37 is generally thought of as a very powerful and high performance car. The engine is six cylinder 3.7 Liter 330hp engine while the top of the line IPL model outputs an impressive 348 HP. Pricing for the G37 starts at around $32k.

I have heard some guys on car message boards state that it's a "waste" when a woman is driving a car known for power like a Mercedes AMG. What a bunch of rubbish! I have seen plenty of women "floor it" and hit very high speeds. Just because we are women doesn't mean that we can't appreciate and fully enjoy the engineering of a finely crafted car. What kind of nonsense is this? Anyone can appreciate the "performance" aspect of a car and push it to the hilt; not just men. Bay area dealer Jaguar Bay Area offers a large selection of cars such as the XJ and XF.

Now take a car like the 2011 Honda Accord. The Accord isn't performance based but more in the style of a family sedan and considered very safe and reliable. Standard engine is a V4 with 190 hp. The Accord is well acclaimed for its legendary reliability and scored 9 out of 10 on reliability tests conducted by J.D Power and Associates. Pricing starts at around $21k. Most guys, in my opinion, would not be intimidated by a woman in an Accord because it's considered affordable and practical. I suppose most guys assume women prefer to drive something that is "affordable" and "safe".

It's ridiculous how some men pass judgment on women based on what car we drive. Some guys even think that it must be "her father's" or "her husband's" car if it is expensive. It's the 2011 now; there are plenty of female millionaires around. Look out, you might see on cruising by in her luxury car on the freeway!
