By Michelle Quinn

An open-air dancing extravaganza displaying Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance is to occur at the Cliffs of Moher in September. 10,000 people are expected to go to the overall performance on two dates on September 1 and 2 and the performances are to correspond with the Cliffs of Moher entering the last stage of the worldwide campaign to be chosen among the 'New 7 Wonders of Nature'.

The display features 40 precision dancers acting out the mythical Irish folk tale of a battle involving Don Dorcha, the Lord of Darkness, and also the Lord of Light, also referred to as the Lord of the Dance. Local music artists Michael O'Connell, Hugh Healy as well as friends with special guest, folk icon Finbar Furey and also the famous Kilfenora Ceili Band, will share the finale with the Lord of the Dance troupe at the Cliffs of Moher.

Announcing details of the event yesterday, Cliffs of Moher sales and marketing supervisor, Geraldine Enright, said the upcoming shows will provide a way for people to see one of the most discussed entertainment shows being performed in a special Irish spot. The Lord of The Dance shows occur less than 2 months prior to the announcement of the 'New Seven Wonders of Nature'. The Cliffs of Moher has been shortlisted along with twenty-seven other sites all over the world.

Billed as "The Edge Of The World Experience", Oliver O'Connell of MPO Promotions Limited said: "These special, open-air performances will give families a chance to take pleasure in possibly among the best exhibits in the world in comfort close-up to the stage at the legendary Cliffs of Moher."

The Performing Arts are definitely the most productive vehicle for advertising tourism-related products in Ireland, as well as the advantages for the local economy out of this once-in-a-lifetime production are significant. It's envisaged that hotels, guest homes and hostels in the region will be completely occupied and already you will find groups in the united states and Canada planning vacation holidays in Clare to correspond with this iconic event.
