How Many Laptops Should You Have?

By Dana C. Xavier

One of the greatest things about living in the modern age is that computers are so incredibly fast and powerful. Not only that, but they have become amazingly cheap. Going out shopping for a computer is a really fun experience. One question you may have is that should you get one, two, or even more? In this article, we'll discuss those nagging questions once and for all.

Of course, everybody needs one good desktop at home. With the latest processor, sufficient memory and hard disk space, you are set for pretty much anything. Voice conferencing, downloading movies, creating and editing your own movies, the sky is truly the limit.

Of course, taking your desktop around town with you, to Starbucks for example, is going to be pretty cumbersome and inconvenient. That's why many people get a laptop in addition to their desktop computer. They can share data, and carry their laptop with them wherever they go. That can solve most of people's computing problems.

Surprisingly, even two computers aren't enough for some people. It's not uncommon for people to have at least a couple of desktops in their home. Serious gamers, for example, will have a desktop for ordinary, everyday use, with another computer solely used for playing video games. The same goes for those who are interested in video editing.

For the same reason, many people use at least two laptops. If you use a laptop at work, it can get confusing, and even embarrassing, if you combine your personal data and your work data on the same computer. Especially if you have to give a presentation, and you are worried about the wrong file popping up at the wrong time.

Of course, the sky's the limit with how many computers you should have. Only a short while ago, having more than on TV in your home was considered absurd. Now people have several. It's the same thing with computers. Pretty soon people will have computers in every room of the house.

Computers are probably one of the greatest pieces of technology ever invented. They can help people out, make life more convenient, and entertain us. And the more you think about it, the more reasons you can come up with for having more than one.
